I couldn’t find my blender after searching through many boxes in the garage. (Still haven’t unpacked after 2 years. But that’s another story.) Went to Bed, Bath, & Beyond to get another one Wednesday. The day before thanksgiving shopping is B-U-S-Y and hubby doesn’t care for the crowds and chaos. So I went alone in order to spend time going slowly and zoning out while looking at everything, thinking about what I want for when I get my own home again.

The blender isle was the first stop and apparently last. I asked a clerk about the huge variance in options and pricing. After I chose my new blender, I asked the clerk what else are must-haves for the kitchen. She showed me a set of cookie sheets in different sizes that were in the isle at the end of the blender section. I realized I already had those, thanked her, and spent a second doing a 180 from where I stood. I had all of my coupons with the intention of finding neat stuff to purchase, and for about 1 minute tried to think of something I needed, anything!!!

Then it was like I woke up from a dream. As I looked around and saw a ton of people everywhere… shopping. They were picking things up and putting them back down as if they just had to buy something! All of a sudden I was repulsed at the thought of buying anything.

I thought, “Do I really need to buy anything? Well, ya, the blender.” I definitely needed the blender to make Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner. But I didn’t need anything else. So I didn’t continue to look around. With relief, and new found freedom, I walked directly to the cashier, bought my blender and left feeling better than when I walked in!

What an awesome feeling of control and peace! ~Susie Glennan

Here’s the amazing thing. I allowed the Holy Spirit to guide me, and at that moment of release, God took over. I became oddly patient and released myself to His will. That gave me the ability to look around, visualize my garage, and walk out.

If you know me, you know I am or was The Busy Woman and still own thebusywoman.com. I don’t want to be The Busy Woman like I was before. I was always busy and kind of impatient (mostly with myself) and well, it’s definitely growth that comes with age and experience that is taking me on this new path.

Here are some articles from The Busy Woman to fill you in on some of the years of purging stuff. It’s a constant work in progress.
